What “Private” Actually Means

No Groups. No Exceptions.

Search for private Pilates Las Vegas studios and most of what comes back is actually group reformer rooms - six, eight, sometimes ten people in a room, one instructor calling out cues to everyone at once. It works well enough as a workout. It is not private instruction, and it was never built to adapt to any one body in the room.

Swan Pilates is different by design. Every session is one-on-one: just you and Rachel, for the entire hour. There is no class size to manage, no cueing that has to work for eight different bodies simultaneously, and no moving on before you are ready because the group needs to progress together. The session is built around you before it starts, and it changes in real time based on what your body needs that day.

Pilates itself is a well-established form of low-impact strength and flexibility training - the NHS guide to Pilates gives a useful general overview. This is the original model Joseph Pilates taught under - private, attentive, one client at a time. Swan Pilates simply never moved away from it.

Why Clients Choose Private

What You Actually Get From One-on-One Work

01

Undivided Attention

Rachel watches every rep, every breath, every small compensation - and corrects it immediately. In a group class, that level of attention is simply not possible.

02

A Program Built For You

Your goals, your injury history, your schedule, your pace. Nothing is templated. The exercise order and apparatus selection are chosen for your body specifically.

03

Real Progression

You move forward when your body is ready - not when the rest of a class is ready. Sessions build on each other with continuity a group format cannot offer.

04

A Trained Eye

Rachel’s physiotherapy background means she is reading your movement, not just counting your reps - useful whether you are brand new or have years of experience.

05

Full Apparatus, Every Session

Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, and mat - selected as your session calls for it, not limited to whatever equipment a group room happens to have open.

06

Privacy and Pace

No audience, no comparison, no pressure to keep up. Many clients say this alone is what makes the work possible for them.

Who Books Private Sessions

Is This For You?

Private Pilates at Swan tends to fit a few kinds of clients particularly well:

  • Professionals in Summerlin and Henderson who want an efficient, high-value hour with no wasted time
  • Clients 40+ who want a pace and progression matched to their body, not a general class average
  • Anyone who tried group Pilates and felt lost, rushed, or unseen
  • People managing an injury history, joint sensitivity, or post-surgical caution who need real modification, not a one-size cue
  • Complete beginners who want to learn the method correctly from the start, without the intimidation of a room full of experienced students

Private Pilates Las Vegas sessions are taught one-on-one, never in a group.

The Apparatus It is also why postpartum work belongs here rather than in a class.

What a Private Hour Does With Each Machine

A classical Pilates Reformer with a blue upholstered carriage, footbar and leather straps in the private studio at Swan Pilates Las Vegas

Reformer

Springs come off and go back on in the middle of an exercise, which is the whole point of working one to one. The load is matched to the repetition you are doing now, not to an average of the room.

The Pilates Cadillac trapeze table with its steel canopy, push-through bar and hanging straps, beside a window in the Swan Pilates Las Vegas studio

Cadillac

Bars, straps and springs rig a dozen different ways. In a class nobody has time to re-rig between people, so this apparatus tends to sit unused. Here it is set up for you and changed again when the exercise changes.

A wooden Wunda Chair with a grey padded seat and spring-loaded pedal in the private Pilates studio at Swan Pilates Las Vegas

Wunda Chair

Unforgiving and precise, which makes it excellent when someone is watching and close to pointless when nobody is. Rachel stands beside you for every repetition on it.

The high barrel, also called the ladder barrel, with an orange padded arch and wooden ladder, used for spinal articulation at Swan Pilates Las Vegas

High Barrel

Moving the spine one segment at a time only works if somebody can see which segment is not moving. That is a hands-on correction, not a cue called across a room.

A classical Pilates small barrel, also called a spine corrector, with a curved padded arch over a maple plywood base and a low step at one end

Small Barrel

Shifting your position on it by a few centimetres changes what the exercise reaches. Those adjustments get made for you in the moment rather than guessed at.

The Baby Chair, a compact Pilates apparatus with a tall black backrest and wall springs behind it, in the Swan Pilates Las Vegas studio

Baby Chair

A niche piece that most studios never bring out. It is here because now and then it is exactly the right answer for a shoulder, and a private hour has room for exactly the right answer.

A Pilates mat unrolled on a studio floor beside a wooden box and a folded blanket, with a maple apparatus frame behind it

Mat

The classical mat order, at your pace, with corrections. The same sequence in a class becomes a follow-along video with a person in front of it. Here it stays a lesson.

Side By Side

Private Session or Group Reformer Class

A group reformer class is a workout. A private hour is a lesson. They are different products, and the difference is worth seeing laid out.

What a Private Session Looks Like

01

Conversation

We start by talking - your goals, your history, what has and hasn’t worked for you before. No forms handed to you in silence.

02

Assessment

Rachel observes how you stand, move, and breathe. This shapes which apparatus and exercises open the session.

03

The Session

A full hour, entirely yours. Pace, difficulty, and equipment adjust in real time based on how your body responds.

04

Your Plan Forward

Most clients begin at two to three sessions per week. Rachel will recommend a cadence based on your goals.

Common Questions

Private Pilates, Answered

Is private Pilates more expensive than a group class?

Per session, yes - it reflects a full hour of one-on-one instruction rather than a shared class rate. Most clients find the difference in results and safety makes it worth the difference in price, particularly if they have tried group classes without seeing progress.

How is this different from a group reformer class?

In a group class, one instructor cues several people through the same sequence at the same pace. In a private session, the entire hour - exercise selection, pacing, apparatus, corrections - is built around you alone, and adjusts in real time.

Do I need previous Pilates experience?

No. Many clients are complete beginners. Because sessions are private, Rachel can teach the method from the ground up at a pace that makes sense for you, without the pressure of keeping up with a room.

How often should I train?

Most clients start at two to three private sessions per week to build momentum, then adjust frequency as their practice and goals evolve. Rachel will guide the right cadence for you during your first session.

Where is the studio located?

Swan Pilates is located in Las Vegas at 8683 W Sahara Ave, Suite #240, serving clients throughout Summerlin, Henderson, Green Valley, and Southern Highlands. Sessions are by appointment only.

What is private Pilates?

Private Pilates is one instructor and one client for the whole session, with the exercises, the apparatus and the spring load chosen for that person on that day. It is instruction rather than a led workout, which is the difference between being taught and being counted.

Where can I do private Pilates in Las Vegas?

Swan Pilates is a private studio at 8683 W Sahara Ave Suite #240, Las Vegas, NV 89117, just off the south end of Summerlin and a short drive from Henderson, Green Valley and Southern Highlands. Every session there is one to one, and the first one is free.

Is private Pilates better than a group reformer class?

They are different products rather than better and worse. A group reformer class is a good workout at a fixed time with a fixed sequence. A private session is instruction: the exercises are chosen for your body on the day, every repetition is watched and corrected, and the whole apparatus is available rather than only the reformer.

Is private Pilates worth it for a complete beginner?

It is arguably the point at which it matters most. Beginners are the people most likely to learn a movement pattern wrong and then repeat it for years, and a first session with nobody to keep up with is the easiest place there is to start.

Do you offer private Pilates for seniors or after an injury?

Yes to both, and together they make up a large part of the week. Rachel trained as a physiotherapist before she taught Pilates, so she is used to working around a restriction and to leaving an exercise out when it is not the right day for it. These are Pilates sessions adapted to your body, not medical treatment, and if you are recovering from something they work best alongside the care you are already receiving.

Your first private session is free. Reach out and let’s talk about what you are looking for.
